5 Stores I Try to Avoid

So, we all have those favorite stores that we just can't resist, right? You know...the ones that you go in looking for one item and an hour later you're still there for no reason?
Then...there are those stores that you try and avoid at all costs for whatever reason. Well.....let's talk about those. Please...keep an open mind and remember this is all opinion.

Let the countdown begin!

5. MENARDS
Typically when I go into Menards, it's for some sort of repair around the house. Well...it just so happens that I don't always know exactly what I need. Usually the employees in stores are able to point me in the right direction. Here....75% of the employees are not able to help. Not their fault. I have heard from several former employees that there is no training whatsoever. Instead, they just expect you to know what you're doing.

4. Goodwill
Shouldn't a second-hand store have second-hand prices?! I mean come on....I can buy half of the things sold here brand new for less. Many craft items, for example, are the same price at Joann! Sure, they at times have some very good sales, but not good enough for certain items. Plus, a 7 day return policy isn't nearly long enough. Not everyone lives next door to a Goodwill. Lastly...I thought the money made from sales was to 'help prepare people for work'? Now....they feel the need to ask you to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar to do the exact same thing. Say what?

3. Abercrombie & Fitch
For many...this one is probably a given. Who wants to shop at a store where the CEO was a complete jerk?! If you're not sure what I'm talking about, just google 'Michael Jeffries'. I'm sure you'll find some interesting articles. Plus, the scent is so horrendously strong walking past the store, I lose my breath. I can't imagine what it must smell like in the store.

2. Walmart
I'd be willing to bet that I'll get a lot of 'Why Walmart?' questions. Well....the only answer that I have for you is bad experiences. Firstly, Walmart prices are not cheaper! While comparing prices with many other stores, I have found Wally-world to be over priced on many items! Next, I have gotten so much bad fruit/veggies from there. Yuck. I don't know if they just get old produce or what the issue is...but no more wasting money on that. Lastly, do they not know how coupons work!? I don't know how many times I have had an employee tell me I can't use a coupon for this reason or that when I'm certain that I can. Luckily, when I do shop at Walmart, I have come to know which checkouts know what they're doing and which don't. So...I'm very selective when checking out! Oh....that's another huge thing! They NEVER have enough checkout lanes open!

1. claire's
Oh jeeze....where to start with this one?! I have never had an earring break/bend/discolor as fast as the ones from Claire's. I mean....I've bought $2 earrings that last longer. On multiple occasions I have even seen the posts bent in the packaging. Am I the only one who has this issue? Now this....this final issue that I have to harp about is absolutely insane to me. Luckily, it didn't happen to me...but poor sissy! So, my sister used to be way into purses and saw the coolest neon yellow purse hanging on the wall. Of course, she had to get it! It was one of those boho style bags with the magnetic snap closure at the top. She loved it until a week later the zipper pocket decided to break. No biggie....she just kept on using it. Not long after, one side of the magnetic snap fell off! You'll never guess what it was attached with...DUCT TAPE! Yes, really!!! The flippin' snaps were attached to the purse with duct tape! Sure duct tape fixes a lot, but it isn't meant to create purses! I mean...come on!? That wasn't the worst part. When she brought it back to the store to question the employees, they just shrugged their shoulder and said there was nothing they could do since the return policy had expired. Ugh....just ugh!

There you have it! Again, this list is simply based off of my experience. What stores do you avoid? Do you have any bad experiences to share? Chime in below! (:

  1. Great post! I loathe Walmart and am definetely a Target girl. I also completely agree about Goodwill - was just saying the same to my husband last week when I found a Gap shirt there for my daughter - for $5! I do better in the clearance at the mall!
