ADOVIA Purifying Mud Mask Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Yep, that's right, another mask review! Can you tell that I'm addicted?!? This time for the Purifying Mud Mask by ADOVIA! Before getting the opportunity to try this mask, I had never heard of the brand so I was very excited to discover another great product.

The first thing that you're going to notice about this product is the price. Yes, it retails for around $30! If you're only willing to pay $5 to $15 at a big name store, then of course this probably isn't for you. If you're willing to pay a little more for a great product, then please, keep reading!

If you're anything like me, the first thing you do when you pick up a product (especially beauty) is to read the back of the packaging.

"ADOVIA's unique Purifying Mud Mask is formulated with Dead Sea Black Mud, Beeswax and a deeply moisturizing combination of Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Olive oil. This natural mask boosts cell renewal and revitalizes your skin, while tightening your pores. As the mask dries, it gently pulls out toxins and impurities known to clog pores and cause visible signs of aging. The presence of Dead Sea mud infuses your skin with needed minerals while firming it and improving elasticity. Aloe Vera and Chamomile extracts soothe and calm your skin while Vitamins A and C leave it looking fresh and renewed."

Sounds luxurious, right?!? My first impression from reading the back was that it was going to smell ah-mazing! I mean...Jojoba and Primrose oil? It turns out that the mud doesn't really have much scent whatsoever. After doing some research, it turns out that Jojoba is used in many beauty products for this reason. It has a very mild fragrance. I was surprised, but not disappointed. In many cases, I'd prefer unscented products as some scents tend to get to me after a while.

When you first put the product in your hand to apply to your face, you'd think it's just like any other mud. It feels dense and heavy. However, when you apply a thin layer, it actually feels much more light an airy than other masks I have used in the past. Kind of a treat to have something a little different. The next thing I noticed is that it has a cooling effect. If that alone doesn't make your skin feel refreshed and renewed, I don't know what will! In the directions it mentions to leave on for 10 to 20 minutes or 'until dry'. Well...I had mine on for 20 minutes and it still didn't look dry. What the heck? As it turns out, it doesn't dry and crack as some masks do and barely changes color. Instead, it dries to almost a 'rubbery' (don't worry, it contains no rubber, lol!) look and feel. I had to gently touch the mud with my fingers to check for transfer. Once there is no transfer, you can tell your face is ready to rinse!

After removing the mask and applying a moisturizer (toner is recommended too, but I didn't have that), my skin felt and looked unbelievably 'fresh' and 'new'. It's clear that Vitamins A and C really do play a role in the mud! What a little mud and added ingredients can do for your skin within a 20 minute period is pretty insane.

If you know me at all, you'll probably already know what I'm about to point out from the above picture.
"Not Tested on Animals"
As you may or may not know, I am a HUGE animal lover! Any time I see a product with an image/phrase such as this, you've already gained my respect. So thank you, ADOVIA, for being respectful to our furry (and all other...textured?) animal friends out there.

----------

Overall I was pretty impressed with this product. The whole scent thing threw me for a bit of a loop but it didn't change my opinion on the product whatsoever. I absolutely love the fact that it is so refreshing. I'll definitely be using my ADOVIA mud mask on a weekly basis!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Montagne Jeunesse 'Chocolate' Mask Review & Giveaway!

Hellooooooo readers!
Not only do I have a product...well...products to review for you, but I also have a giveaway! Montagne Jeunesse was nice enough to send me an assortment of 'chocolate' masks to try out and review for all of you! They also went the extra mile to offer a giveaway so that YOU can try them too! What a great company, huh!?! Please be sure to thank them as this wouldn't be possible without their generosity!

Anyway...

Check out the goods I was given to try out:

Pretty awesome, right?
Since the first one I tried out was the White Chocolate, why not start out reviewing that!
Here we go!

---

White Chocolate
Ultra Deep Cleansing Masque

Texture:
You know over Christmas time when you buy candy coating or 'almond bark' and melt it down to make holiday treats? That is just what this stuff looks/feels like! It couldn't be any closer and is very smooth. Of course, this is cool and refreshing...not warm as the melted chocolate would be, haha!

Scent:
The next thing you'll most likely notice is the scent. One of the best parts of the whole experience in my opinion! Being a 'chocolate' mask, you'd expect it to smell like chocolate, right? Of course! To me, the mask smells just like white chocolate covered cherries! It isn't a super sweet scent as chocolate alone would have, but has almost a fruity hint to it. Chocolate covered cherries is as close as I can come to describing the scent.

Use:
The 'chocolate' goes on your skin very smooth! Unlike clay masks, the White Chocolate mask does not dry nearly as hard and crisp. Where the product is applied thin, it does get dry but the majority stays at least 'tacky'.

Chocolate Infusion
Intense Conditioning Hair Treatment

Texture:
Unlike the previous mask that I reviewed, this one is not quite so smooth. It is however, creamy. The hair mask is a bit more like the texture of a cake batter. It is still very creamy, but not 'whipped' quite as smooth as the White Chocolate mask.

Scent:
Okay, so...I thought the first mask that I tried smelled like chocolate. This one REALLY smells like chocolate! If you were blind folded and had to guess what this was, the first thing you'd think of is chocolate pudding...or maybe chocolate cake batter! Seriously though, I don't think it could be much closer to the scent of chocolate. Just opening the packet fills the air with its scent!

Use:
Basically you just shampoo and rinse your hair and then rub the product through. I have pretty long hair so it had to be spread quite thin, but there was still enough so that all my hair got the 'treatment'. Let it sit for 2 to 5 minutes and then rinse the treatment out. I didn't notice any immediate changes but once my hair dried (naturally, no hair dryer), I noticed that it had a bit more shine and was softer than usual. The most noticeable benefit was definitely the shine! It also mentions on the packaging that the chocolate helps to strengthen hair but I have no idea how to judge that.

Chocolate Masque
For Normal, Dry and T-Zone Skin - Deep Pore Cleansing
Anti-Stress

Texture:
The texture of this masque is similar to the White Chocolate one, but thicker! Similar to a frosting that you would buy in the store. It is however, very smooth and creamy. Perfect consistency in my opinion.

Scent:
Out of the three products that I tried, this (to me) has the most mild chocolate scent. Again, it has a pudding type smell to it. Don't get me wrong, it still smells chocolatey, just not as much as the previous two!

Use:
When you apply this mask to your face, it goes on so extremely smooth and even that it's almost ridiculous! It reminds me of those people in movies that go to the spa and get mud/clay masks! It goes on so perfectly and is super easy! This one does dry slightly and 'pull' your skin tight, but not nearly as much as many clay masks would. Overall, this one was my favorite! It left my skin feeling refreshed and looking great!

Though the main focus of my blog was dedicated to the use of this product, I really want to point out something that is really important to me when it comes to beauty products and products in general. Something that encourages me to purchase Montagne Jeunnesse over so many other brands. Something that Montagne Jeunesse does really well and should be recognized for. Cruelty free.

As a vegetarian and an animal lover, while sometimes hard to avoid, I hate using products that in any way may have harmed an animal.

Straight from the packaging:
"We're vegetarian and animals are our friends - that's why we don't bash bunnies or add bits of animals!"

Could it be more straight forward than that? Kudos to you, Montagne Jeunnesse, for telling it like it is!

---

Overall, I love how easy and convenient these masks are. Four steps and you're done: Cleanse/Shampoo - Apply - Relax - Rinse. Each packet has the perfect amount of product for a single use. Apply the contents and recycle the packaging, no clean up necessary!
What I don't like...is that they make me crave chocolate! Not a bad thing....except the calories! Haha! (:
