Fe Fit Fuel Protein & Energy Bar Review

You know those times when you really know you need to get up and work out but you're just so comfortable or have no energy? Yeah, I get those days too! Fortunately, there are things to give you that little boost of energy that you need to get up and get going. Fe Fit Fuel bars are one of those things. They're even better as fuel for your muscles AFTER your workout!

Fe Fit Fuel bars are a mini snack packed with protein (and energy)! They are also gluten free and a paleo whole natural food. These bars come in 3 enticing flavor selections. You may also purchase them in a combo pack that will include all 3 flavors. The three C's:

- Cacao Nib Almond
- Cashew Apricot
- Coconut Pecan

I must admit, when I saw these, I was a little iffy. Firstly, they are mini! However, when you eat them, they are very dense and there is more to them than what you see! If you want to get technical, the bars range between 1.13 and 1.16 ounces a piece. Fair weight for such a small snack! Though my attempt above was to show the size, sometimes pictures can be deceiving. In comparison to size (not weight), these would be similar to a 'fun size' candy bar that you would purchase in packs in the store.

Next, I opened a package (these pictures happen to be the Cashew Apricot variety). No, they do not look appetizing. At least to me they don't. But please keep in mind that these are Paleo and All Natural. If you want the health benefits, you may just have to give up the visual appeal. Many health concious eaters are already accustomed to this.

The taste test. The most exciting part, right? Being packed with 10 grams of protein in this tiny bar, I was a bit skeptical that it would have that 'taste'. You know the one! Fortunately these do not have that dry, protein-like flavor to them. They have a very fresh, natural flavor instead. Almost as if the ingredients were just all slapped together with some honey! Can't get any more fresh than that! For reference, here is the list of ingredients in the Cashew Apricot variety. Both other bars are similar, with the exception of a few ingredients.
Isolate whey protein, raw pecans, organic dates, raw cashews, dried apricot, organic raw coconut, spring water, raw honey, organic coconut sugar, organic chia seeds, organic ground flax seed, raw organic extra virgin coconut oil, pure vanilla extract, sea salt

Nutrition Facts:
Serving Size: 33 grams, Servings: 1, Amount Per Serving: Calories 140, Fat Cal. 60, Total Fat 7g, Sat. Fat 2.5g, Trans Fat 0g, Cholest. 0mg, Sodium 15mg, Total Carb. 10g, Fiber 2g, Sugars 6g, Protein 10g, Vitamin A 0%, Vitamin C 0%, Calcium 0%, Iron 4%

DIY Sugar Scrub & Pure Body Naturals Fractionated Coconut Oil Review

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you probably already know that my normal post is just a product review. While I love reviewing products, I also love DIY projects and anything that involves 'cooking' if you can call it that. So......not only do I have a product review for you, but I also have an EXTREMELY simple DIY recipe project to share!

The recipe that I will be giving you is for some Sugar Scrub! Sounds yummy...but this isn't edible, but your body will love it! With just 3 simple ingredients, you'll have a luxury beauty product in just a few minutes time. When I create this product, I like to make several very small batches so that I can add different scents and package them separately. If you'd like, feel free to double, triple or even quadruple this recipe to make a larger jar full. Trust me, you'll love it!

Step 1:
In a small bowl, measure out 1/3 cup of fractionated coconut oil. I used oil from Pure Body Naturals which can be purchased on Amazon! This product is 100% pure and natural making it perfect for any beauty care needs. It is also a great moisturizer which is its purpose in the scrub, but will not clog pores. The oil is completely clear and odorless, making it excellent to use to create unscented products, or ones where you want to add your own fragrance. Lastly, it makes a perfect carrier oil for using essential oils, which will also be part of this recipe.

Step 2:
Add 5 or so drops of your favorite essential oil to the coconut oil and mix. In the pictured scrub, I used an organic peppermint. I absolutely love the 'cool', almost energizing feeling that you get from peppermint essential oil. If you're looking for some basics on essential oils, you can check out my review HERE

Step 3:
Add 1/2 cup sugar to your oil mixture and stir. If you want to keep the scrub more natural, feel free to use an organic sugar. Otherwise, white sugar that you use for baking works just fine. If you do use organic, it is possible that the scrub may have a yellow-ish tint depending on the kind that you use. No biggie. The sugar works as an exfoliate and removes dead skin cells from your body. It also gives the scrub a light sweet scent.

Step 4:
Package your scrub in an airtight container and store. I used a cute little glass canning jar with a plastic screw on lid. I also added some ribbon and a bow for a little decoration. Lastly, I topped it off with a 'Sugar Scrub' label so that the product gets used for it's specified purpose. Here is what my finished product looked like:

Keep in mind that this recipe can be adjusted to fit your likes/needs. If you would prefer a stronger or more mild scent, add more or less essential oils. Also, if you would prefer the scrub to be thinner or thicker, add more or less sugar/oil. It could be a fun experiment. Maybe you want to make several batches with different amounts to see which you'd prefer. It's so quick and simple to make that you could make several at once.

You can use the scrub on everything from your hands to your arms and legs and even your lips. Yes, your lips (and while it may taste good, please don't eat it!)! Simply rub a small amount on any area you would like, wait for a few minutes and then rinse. I absolutely love the way this fractionated coconut oil works in the scrub! It gives plenty of moisture without going overboard. I don't typically like to use it straight from the bottle as it sometimes creates a 'sheen' on your skin. That being said, it does work wonders.

-----------------------------------------------

Recipe:

1/3 Cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 Drops Essential Oil (Any Scent)
1/2 Cup Sugar

Directions:
1. Mix fractionated coconut oil and essential oil together in small bowl
2. Add sugar and mix
3. Store in airtight container
4. Enjoy!

I received the Pure Body Naturals Fractionated Coconut Oil complimentary in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own!

Fibolica Hair Thickening Fibers Review + Giveaway

So this is pretty much one of the coolest products that I have reviewed thus far! I mean...who even knew that something like this existed. I sure didn't! If you also are not familiar with what this is, please keep reading. Actually...even if you already know what it is....keep reading too! ;)

About the Product

Fibolica is basically little tiny fibers that when applied to your hair, attach to strands like little tiny magnets. Anybody with hair loss or even mildly thinning hair will appreciate this product. Men and women alike. The product comes in 9 colors so that you can get the perfect shade. It is recommended that if you are unsure between two shades, that you choose the darker of the two. I was in this predicament, and was glad that I chose the darker. The bottle is similar to that of any hair powder or almost like a 'salt/pepper shaker' with a lid. Plus, one small, 25 gram bottle lasts for 2 whole months!! Simply remove the cap, shake a small amount onto thinning areas and gently pat. You can even put a few layers on for coverage to your liking. In case you are curious as I was, here is what the product looks like on a plain sheet of paper:

My Review & Results

Ever since high school, there is one spot on my hair that when parted, is slightly wider than the rest. I normally wouldn't part my hair here, but for review purposes, I did. My goal was to show how well...or terribly this product worked. Before seeing the result, I was extremely impressed with the ease of using the product. If need be, I could easily get up each morning, shake a little Fibolica on and go! I noticed instantly that the fibers were a bit darker than my hair color, but it ended up blending in beautifully. Now comes the fun part, before and after! Both pictures were taken within 5 minutes of each other in the exact same location under the same light. No trickery here.

How cool is that?!? Yeah, yeah...I know I didn't sprinkle it in completely even, but hey...it was my first try! This was only two very thin layers, so I can't imagine how thick and full my hair would look with more! While my hair isn't exactly 'thin' when parted in most spots, I'm still in love with this product and will use it just to give my hair a little boost! Now....to hunt down some baldies (I'm lookin' at you daddy!) to give this a try on! ;)

Smart Weigh SBS500 Digital Scale Review

The Smart Weigh body fat scale is truly a 'smart' device. Not only can you measure your weight, you can also measure body fat, body water, muscle mass, and bone mass. Perfect for maintaining or improving your health and appearance.

The scale looks pretty incredible too! With tempered glass and stainless steel accents, you're sure love the design. The screen displays bright, easy to read text/numbers and comes in very clearly. Plus, it is so thin that it can be slid under shelving/etc. if you so choose.

You even have the option to create up to 8 personal profiles to keep track of your health. Input your height, age and gender to get the most accurate results. It takes only a minute to set up and is incredibly easy to use!

On to my experience with the scale....

When I first opened up the box (well packaged by the way), I was really impressed with the design! While this may sound odd talking about a scale...it was very pretty! I've never had anything like it before. I've always just had the simple, solid colored, weight only scales that you get at big box stores. I must admit, I felt a bit spoiled. I also absolutely loved how thin the scale was, very sleek.

Next came the fun part. I set up my profile and stepped on the scale. I was excited...but nervous to see the results. I didn't understand my results at first, so I had to consult the manual. The manual is very informative and helps you to read your results. While I won't share my results, I will say that I was more pleased than I thought I would be. Of course I had my doubts that the scale may not be accurate, but when comparing the weight and bmi to past measurements, they were very similar. I feel pretty confident that the results are quite accurate.

The only minor issue that I had with this scale is that it is hard to keep clean. After standing on the scale barefoot one time, you can see your footprint. While easy to just wipe off, it can still be a hassle. Given the sleek design, I'm willing to put up with the footprints as opposed to a change in design.

Tips:
-Always use scale on a hard, flat surface to receive accurate results
-When measuring body fat, body water, muscle mass and bone mass, always stand completely barefoot. If you attempt wearing socks/etc., your results may not be read or will be inaccurate.

Old Factory Candles Review & Giveaway

It's that time of year again. Hot cocoa, warm baths and candles! I know, I know, we don't want to say goodbye to summer....but why not make the best of the season. Old Factory candles can do just that! With 12 different scent sets, you're sure to find one that you'll love! Old Factory candles are hand made right here in the good 'ole USA. Each candle is made with natural soy wax and has self trimming wicks. Each dainty jar is just 2 oz. but is said to burn for a whopping 20 hours! That's just incredible!

Packaging
So basically....I'm a sucker for cute packaging. Two identical products can be put in different packaging and I'm willing to pay a bit more just for the packaging that I prefer. Anybody else suffer from 'cute packaging syndrome'?! I'm also a sucker for old fashioned, country style products. These candles are that and more! I absolutely love the simple, brown paper/cardboard style packaging that these come in. This would be absolutely perfect for a gift! Heck, you can even have it pre-wrapped with a gift message right from Amazon!

Scents
With so many unique scents, it's really hard to choose just one set. Buuuuuuut....I had to so I went with the 'Happy Holidays' set. Yeah...it's a bit early for these scents...I usually wait until after Thanksgiving...but hey...don't judge! ;)
With my set, I received the Christmas Tree, Candycane and Gingerbread scents. My favorite being the Peppermint...but I'm slightly biased to minty scents. Yum! Since I already knew the scents, I grabbed an unsuspecting guest to take a stab at guessing. First was the Christmas Tree. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to pick out the scent, but that is kind of a tough one. Knowing what it was already, I could tell that it was pine-y scented. Then came the Peppermint. Well...that one is pretty easy. However, it isn't overpowering, so it did take a second for her to name the scent. Lastly was the Gingerbread. Literally 2 seconds after opening the top, she said Gingerbread. What!?!? I thought for sure she cheated some how...but nope...it must have literally smelled that identical to actual gingerbread. Pretty crazy, right?! For your convenience, I'll put the complete list of scent sets which by the way are clickable:

Fresh & Clean

Cocoa Cravings Cacaos Chocolate Review & GIVEAWAY!

Did someone say chocolate?!? Oh yes...I did! I knew you couldn't resist clicking the title when you saw that word!

Anywho, Cocoa Cravings chocolate is vegan, gluten free, soy free, guilt free and healthy! These bars come in 3 variaties:
Vegan Dark Arriba Chocolate - 55%
Vegan Dark Arriba Chocolate - 65%
Vegan Dark Chocolate Bar - 71%

I happen to be reviewing the one listed in bold above.

Ingredients
Since I was a little girl, I've always been told that if you cannot pronounce the ingredients in food, it must not be good for you. Well...I don't know whether that is true or not, but really...it tends to be that way! The chocolate bars are made out of 4 ingredients. Yes...just 4! Plus, I can pronounce them all..it at least gives me a piece of mind.
Ingredients: Amazon cocoa mass, (includes cocoa powder & cocoa butter), evaporated cane juice (sugar), lecithin, vanilla.

The only ingredient I wasn't absolutely sure about was the lecithin. As it turns out, it is something to hold the ingredients together and is also found in soybeans and egg yolks.

Taste
Bet you're all wondering about this, huh?
If you're looking for that really soft, melt in your mouth chocolate, this is not it. Instead it has a bit of a 'crunch' to it. It is however, very smooth and creamy. No 'grit' whatsoever. Many may not like the crisp texture, but I happen to prefer this over the soft chocolate.
When it comes to 'darkness', the 65% cocoa is similar to that of a very popular 'Special Dark' bar that you would buy in the store. If you would prefer yours slightly more sweet, try the 55%. If you would prefer it more on the bitter side, try the 71%.

Yes, it came a little broken, but it still tastes good!!

"Happy Anniversary"
"It's A Boy/Girl"
"Congratulations"
"Welcome Home"

Or 'Just Because' - The possibilities are literally endless! Any picture with any saying (70 characters max)!

Pricing
Due to customization, prices vary greatly. With prices as low as $14.95 (plus shipping) and as high as $289.95 (plus shipping), there is likely something for your price point.

Packaging
Too cute! Puzzles come shrink wrapped in a customized country-esque cardboard box with your photo on the front! Thick cardboard that will hold up...not the flimsy, paper-like stuff. Once you pop open the top, your pieces are nicely placed in a zip lock baggie. Again, could this be a more perfect gift?

Quality
You know those times that you go into the store to buy a puzzle and find out that the puzzle pieces just do not fit together properly? Or...the pieces are so extremely thin, that they just want to bend/rip/break when you try and take the pieces back apart? I hate that. Going into this, I hoped for the best but was prepared for the worst. Much to my surprise, the pieces were very sturdy. Please keep in mind that these puzzles can be bought standard or wooden format. The ones that I am referring to are just the standard. The very first time I started piecing mine together, it was slightly difficult to get them to fit correctly. However, the second and third time around, I had no problem.

Then comes the picture quality...
I do not know how in the world these are printed, but wow...just wow! I thought hands down that I would get my puzzle together and see...well....pixels! Boy was I wrong! These picture puzzles are legit! I literally had a replica of my original photo on a cardboard jigsaw puzzle. Don't take my word for it....take a peek at the two side by side!

PhantomFit Resistance Loop Bands Review

Looking for a convenient way to get your exercise on the go? Or...do you just want exercise equipment that doesn't take up a whole room?
If your answer was 'yes' to either of these questions...or even if it was 'no', I have the thing for you! Resistance loop bands that is! It's probably pretty likely that you have seen or at least heard of resistance bands before, but these are a step up. Instead of just being a long, flat/tube shaped piece of rubber, these are actually loops.

Regular Resistance Bands vs. Resistance Loop Bands
In the past, I have used just the flat resistance bands and have had problems with them here and there. My favorite thing to do with these sorts of bands has always been to put them around my ankles or wrists and stretch. Well, when you have the long strip resistance band, you have to tie the ends together to have a loop. If you don't get it tied tight enough, they can snap apart while you are doing your exercise. Believe me...it's happened to me and it isn't much fun. Just like being snapped by a big ole rubber band. With these loop bands, you don't have to worry about that because they are already loops when you buy them.

Strength
A main question you probably have is..."Can they break and how easy?"
Well...yes, they can snap. Easily? Not so much. In general, you can stretch resistance bands up to 3 times the original size. I carefully stretched one my arms length to see how well the PhantomFit bands held up. There was no sign of the band being ready to snap. While I would not recommend finding out, I have a feeling they would be pretty difficult to break. However, they will wear out over time and may eventually snap. It's always a good idea to switch the bands out when they seem to be 'well used'.

Are they worth the price?
At $14.99 on Amazon, you can't go wrong. The portability alone is a huge plus. Also, they can be used for upper body and lower body which is hard to find with a majority of exercise equipment.

The bad news
The carrying case is a pain in the butt! It's nice to have, but the bands just don't want to slide down into the bag. Instead, they just want to stick to the sides. But...wait! I have read that they are aware of the problem and plan on creating a new carrying case! I don't know what the plan is, but I think it would be extremely effective to put a zipper (or velcro) down the long side of the bag so that you can just lay the bands inside and zip them shut. Whatever the change is that they make, I'm sure it will be much more effective than the present.

Conclusion
The pros of the bands definitely outweigh the cons. If you're looking for portable exercise equipment, you can't go wrong with these.

Azure Naturals Ultimate C Serum Review + GIVEAWAY!!

Oh boy do I have a treat for you guys! Azure Naturals was kind enough to send me a bottle of Ultimate C Skin Repair Serum to test out and pass some on to a few of you to try! But before we get to that, lets learn a bit more about the stuff, shall we?

Azure Naturals Ultimate C Skin Repair Serum is a 'Made in the USA' product containing; 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin E + Ferulic Acid. The serum works by boosting collagen and elastin production to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful. Vitamin C serum also helps protect your skin from sun damage! Yes, that's right, it helps protect from sun damage. That in itself should be enough to make you want to try the product out.

As you can see from the picture below, applying the serum is very simple. It even comes equipped with its own dropper as shown in the main picture. I literally used only 4 drops to cover my entire face. The serum is very thin (as shown below), making it easy to spread lightly over your face. This also makes it much easier for your skin to absorb. When applying to my face, I did realize that it has a mild scent. Other Vitamin C serums that I have used in the past have been unscented so this was a nice little surprise for me. I can't put my finger on the scent, though I would say it is similar to a very light, floral perfume.

I bet your main question is, "Does this work?" Well, I'll answer that as best I can.
Short term, nobody pointed out that my skin looked any different. However, I did have a couple very small red spots from various causes that I watched while using the serum. I personally noticed that they seemed to get much lighter and blend in more with my skin. Was it just my imagination? I really don't think so! I plan to continually use this product and hope for even more results. Until then, I'm just happy to learn that it helps protect from sun damage!

Fresh Fruit Vinegars by Mange Review

Yep, more food related products to review! Can someone say YUM??
This isn't some snack that I can just pop into my mouth...but it sure makes some delicious condiments! No, this is NOT your everyday vinegar! Instead it has a kick of fruit flavor. While these vinegars come in a wide array of flavors, I was sent White Peach and Passion Fruit to experiment with!

While I found my own recipe to use my vinegars in, the company was kind enough to send a couple along. Unfortunately, while they sound delicious, it just isn't something that I would make. Maybe one of you would like to try and let me know how it tastes? Okay, thanks! (:
By clicking on the picture, I hope you will be able to read the ingredients. If not, let me know and I'll gladly write them out for you!

Though I don't exactly recommend taking a sip of vinegar (yikes!), I did dip my finger to give it a taste. Of course the main thing you taste is the vinegar. However, there is def. a fruity 'zing' to them. The white peach was delicious and literally tasted like fresh peaches! Then there's the Passion Fruit. Quite honestly, I don't know what passion fruit should taste like as I've never had it before. To me, it smells and tastes a bit like green tea. While I like green tea, I wasn't a huge fan of this flavor. It would probably be good in the right recipe. I just haven't found that one yet!

So on to what I did with my vinegars! Well, I made a vinaigrette! I absolutely love salads so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try them out! I didn't want to go crazy with it, so I browsed the internet for a simple recipe. I was able to find this one courtesy of Ina Garten:

----------

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
3 tablespoons champagne vinegar
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup good olive oil
Salad greens or mesclun mix for 6 to 8 people

Directions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the mustard, garlic, vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. While whisking, slowly add the olive oil until the vinaigrette is emulsified.

Place the salad greens in a medium bowl and add enough dressing to moisten. Sprinkle with a little extra salt and pepper, if desired, and serve immediately.

----------

Of course when I made mine, I swapped the Champagne
Vinegar for these fresh fruit vinegars. I also
added a bit of italian seasoning to give it a bit more color and texture. Otherwise, I felt like I was just eating olive oil with bits of garlic!

I have bought raspberry flavored vinaigrette before, so I had high hopes for this! Then came the taste test! Once again, the White Peach dressing was very good! It obviously wasn't quite as 'peachy' as before, but it still had a hint. The perfect amount of fruit flavor in my opinion. With the Passion Fruit vinegar, I really wasn't able to pick out the flavor that much. It may have had almost a bit of bitterness....or maybe not... I guess I'm just not really sure.

In conclusion, I really just think that the flavors are hit and miss! I would definitely buy the White Peach again. The Passion Fruit..not so much! Hopefully at one point or another, I'll get the chance to try more flavors and let you all know what I think!

If you would like to buy some vinegar for yourself, you can do so HERE!

Also, help keep this product 'Made in USA' and more by donating HERE and receiving a delicious gift!

Ice Ball Mold Review

Have you guys ever seen these crazy things before? Okay...me either..until now! Basically what these do is create perfect round ice chunks to put in your drink.
Not only do they make it look nice, they also melt much slower than a standard sized ice cube. Therefore, it will keep your drink cooler for longer and won't water it down as much! Though many people prefer these for alcoholic drinks, I don't drink and so I use them just for fun (and to keep my drink from watering down quickly of course). They also can be placed in your dogs water bowl to play with (the ice...not the mold, lol!). I have yet to try this!

Anyway, the silicone molds in general are very heavy duty and great quality. It also comes with a small collapsible funnel that makes filling the molds quick and easy.
The first thing that I did as recommended, was washed them all up. Then you simply put the top and bottom together (very easy to do), put the funnel in the little hole at the top and fill to the black dotted line. The reason for the extra air space at the top is to allow the ice to expand while freezing. Then, simply put them in the freezer and wait!

When I went back after about 5 hours or so, I was bummed to see that the balls had overflown and there was a stream of ice down the side. However, it was very easy to just break off. The second time I tried making them, I didn't fill the water quite to the dotted line and then it worked fine.
I tried prying apart the two pieces to get the ice out but it just wasn't happening. To make it easier, I held the mold under hot water for a couple seconds and then it pulled right open!!
So cool! I really had a [nearly] perfect round chunk of ice in my hand! I plopped it in my iced tea to see what would happen...

Yes, it looks really cool! I would def. use these for a party/get together! They just add a little extra detail to it all. It's the small things that count, right?!?
Of course the main purpose (to me) is too keep your drink cold for longer with less dilution. Well, yeah, it works! Typically with drinks, the ice is gone well before I'm able to finish. However, when I finally finished my drink, I still had a ball of ice at the bottom of my cup! Pretty awesome, right?

Overall, I wasn't crazy for how the darn things overflow when filled 'correctly' and how they need to be put under hot water to open. However, I absolutely love how they work! These would be great for a party or for taking your drink out in the hot weather. You don't have to worry about adding ice every 15 minutes! Also, the fact that it keeps your drink from becoming diluted is a huge plus in my book!
